LOS PRIMOS – 17TH ANNUAL DANCE FOR ALL AGES
WARM UP YOUR WINTER WITH A NIGHT OF MUSIC AND SALSA DANCING
The Dance for All Ages began in 2001 and has been held every year at Saint Antonio's Olympic Community Hall across from Long & McQuade in Halifax. The dance was created to give families an event where they could enjoy music, dancing and socializing together, as they so often do in Cuba.
It also provides a great venue for young artists to play on a big stage. They gain valuable performance experience playing in front of a big crowd and this usually the highlight of their year.
Paul Barrett's Back Alley Big Band features some of the best musicians Nova Scotia has to offer and it was a natural evolution that Augusto Enriquez would sing with this fabulous band. So for the DFAA 2014 the Olympic Hall was transported back to the era when big bands often played for the dancers.
Long time partners in the Dance for All Ages, the Halifax Salseros give a dance lesson to the masses before the NSCC Latin R&B band takes the stage.
Los Primos alumni Tony Rodriguez (1998) and Avi Garcia (2001) were joined by Cuban vocalist Mikel Nuñez to headline the Dance for All Ages 2012. They braved the cold weather of February in Nova Scotia to help make the dance this year very special indeed.
Dance for All Ages 2011 featured Latin Groove with special guest from Cuba Dismer Hachzavarria on Congas. Joining him was Jon Bailey from Fredricton, NB. Silvio Pupo and the 2 percussionists enjoying the moment!
